The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) is marking two decades of shaping global payment security, when its flagship Europe Community Meeting heads to Edinburgh from 20-22 October 2026. Banks, retailers, payment service providers, assessors, technology providers and security professionals will gather to confront an industry at a critical inflection point: AI is transforming the payments landscape, the threats it introduces and the tools available to defend against them.
The programme explores what that shift means in practice – from new risks in the cardholder data environment, to what accountability looks like as machines take on more of the decision-making, to moving beyond compliance checklists toward continuous assurance. It also covers cloud-native payment architectures, cryptography and key management, and the regulatory shifts reshaping the sector.
Keynote speaker Ken Hughes, known as “The King of CX,” will challenge delegates to treat security as an experience customers can feel – one where trust, not just compliance, is the true measure of success.
